Many people think drapes are the same as curtains – but they aren’t!

Drapes are more formal and pleated, tend to be lined and made of heavier material whereas curtains tend to be informal, lightweight, more casual in style and unlined.

Drapes are best for blocking out light, cold and heat.

The term ‘drape’ can be applied quite loosely – for example in conservatories muslin can be draped across windows and poles to keep the room cool.
